Setting Up Your Bamboo Fountain

A quick guide to assembling and setting up your bamboo water feature

How do I set up the fountain?

1. Test your container for leaks before starting 2. Assemble the bamboo fountain per the included directions 3. Place the bamboo on the edge of the bowl so it sits stable 4. Submerge the pump, then plug it in 5. Connect the tube to the pump and fountain 6. Cut the tube to length as needed 7. Adjust the water flow to your preference 8. Add river stones, plants, or other decorations

How do I connect the tube to the pump?

Push the tube snugly over the pump fitting. If it's too tight, soften the tube with hot water or a hair dryer. If needed, swap to the smaller adapter (insert big end into pump).

How much tubing should I cut?

Cut so the pump rests on the bottom of your bowl. We include extra tubing—trim small amounts at a time until it's right. Replacement tubing: 3/8" inner diameter, available at hardware stores.

My pump isn't working. What should I do?

The pump likely needs priming to clear air bubbles: 1. With the pump submerged and plugged in, check if it's vibrating 2. Gently tap it against the bowl bottom to release air bubbles 3. Start with low flow, then increase once water flows smoothly Still having issues? Contact us and we'll help.

How do I keep the water clean?

Bleach — Add a teaspoon to the water (not safe for pets) Vinegar — White distilled vinegar is a natural alternative Commercial cleaners — Many pet-safe options available online Distilled water — Stays cleaner longer with less maintenance

How do I clean the bamboo spout?

Wash with dish soap and water. For mold or mildew, scrub gently with coconut oil, then rinse and dry.

What type of water should I use?

Tap water works fine. Distilled water stays cleaner longer if you prefer less maintenance.

Can I apply a finish to preserve the bamboo?

Thompson's Water Seal works well. We recommend letting bamboo weather naturally for the most authentic look. Avoid marine varnish—it creates an unnatural orange tint and overly shiny appearance.

How do I seal a pot with a drainage hole?

Prep: For unglazed pots, spray the inside with clear acrylic sealant first. File the hole area smooth. Silicone method (permanent): Cover the hole with thin plastic extending 1" beyond the edge. Seal with silicone on both sides. Cure 24 hours. Cork method (removable): Insert a cork, shave to fit, seal gaps with plumber's putty. Important: Test for leaks for 48 hours before use.
